Ingredients & Substitutions

Heads up: For exact measurements, see the recipe card below.

Making these popsicles is easy, with only 5 simple ingredients:

  • Mixed Berries: Roasting the berries enhances their natural sweetness.
  • Lime Juice: Adds a refreshing tang. Lemon juice can be used instead.
  • Lime Zest: Adds a fragrant, zesty flavor. Lemon zest is a good alternative.
  • Sugar-Free Vanilla Extract: Enhances the sweetness without added sugar.
  • Full-Fat Yogurt: Provides a creamy texture and richness.
Can I use any berries?

Yes! You can use any single berry, like strawberries, blackberries, raspberries or blueberries, if you prefer. Strawberries are delicious when roasted with a dash of vanilla extract or pure vanilla bean powder!

Can I add a sweetener?

Yes! If you like a sweeter popsicle, feel free to add a keto-friendly sweetener like allulose, erythritol or stevia to taste. It’s totally optional since the roasted berries bring natural sweetness.

Can I make these dairy-free?

Absolutely! Swap the full-fat Greek yogurt with coconut yogurt or coconut cream for a dairy-free option. The texture will still be creamy and delicious.

How can I transform this into a high-protein treat?

Need more protein? Simply add a scoop or two of your favorite protein powder. Plain (unsweetened) or sugar-free vanilla protein powder will work best. Try options like beef protein isolate, collagen powder, egg white protein powder, or whey protein powder. For a plant-based options, try pea protein powder.

Tips for Best Roasted Berry Yogurt Popsicles

  • Use Fresh Berries When Possible. Fresh berries roast better and have a richer flavor, but frozen berries work too—just thaw them first.
  • Don’t Skip Roasting the Berries. Roasting enhances the sweetness of the berries and intensifies their flavor, even without any added sweeteners.
  • Use Full-Fat Yogurt. For the creamiest texture, use full-fat yogurt or coconut cream if you’re going dairy-free. Low-fat options can result in icier popsicles.
  • Stir the Mixture Before Freezing. To ensure even distribution of the flavors, give the yogurt mixture a quick stir before pouring it into the molds.
  • Make It Sweeter if You Like. If you prefer a sweeter popsicle, feel free to add a little keto-friendly sweetener like allulose, stevia or erythritol.

Storage Instructions

These popsicles can be stored in the freezer for up to 3 months. To prevent freezer burn, keep them in an airtight container or wrap each popsicle individually in plastic wrap. When ready to enjoy, let them sit at room temperature for a few minutes to soften slightly before serving.

OMG, Martina, just made these yesterday, and they turned out perfect! Going without added sugar while roasting berries made these just sweet enough. Plus, the mix of creamy yogurt with a touch of lime is so refreshing. I think I’ll be enjoying these well past summer!

I just made these and they turned out fantastic! Martina, do you think Greek yogurt or coconut yogurt is best for keeping it super creamy? 😊

    • Either are good, it depends if you like the taste of coconut yogurt and it will also depend on the brand. I like what used to be previously “Coyo”, I think they rebranded to “Cocos”. The vanilla one is really good and has no sweeteners.

Loved these yogurt popsicles, Martina! I had some berries that needed to be used today so I made these as they popped up on my Facebook. Can’t believe how quick and simple they were to put together! ❤️

  5. Martina, I just adore the combination of roasted berries with the creamy yogurt, it sounds like a real treat on a warm day. Do you think orange juice instead of lime would keep it keto?

    Reply
    • It would! You can use a small amount of fresh orange juice if you want, I think it would pair well with berries, especially if you also use orange zest. Make sure to use organic oranges though, you don’t want to be eating any pesticides.

I think this was okay but I’ll stick with cream. I think it makes much creamier popsicles. You’ll love it if you love frozen yogurt though!

    • You could try coconut yogurt like Cocos, it’s very creamy and has a higher fat content. The vanilla one would be oh so good!

These were good! My three year old adored them! Just curious, can you use mixed frozen berries too or would they not bake well?

    Reply
    • Yes, I love Cocos (previously Coyo). They have unflavored as well as vanilla and fruit options. There’s no sugar although some contain fruit so check out the carb count. The vanilla one is my favorite option.

I liked this with mixed berries but it was a bit tart. Roasted strawberries are the BEST! No sweetener needed 🙂 Love this recipe.
