My journey into the world of nutrition and healthy living took a bit of a winding road. I started out with a degree in Economics, venturing into the world of auditing, but I soon realized that my true passion lay in the realms of nutrition, health, and of course, food! I’ve always been deeply fascinated by the science of nutrition, the art of photography, and the joy of creating new, exciting recipes. There’s something magical about combining wholesome ingredients to create dishes that are not only healthy but also incredibly tasty.
This passion for healthy living is not just a professional pursuit for me. It’s deeply personal. I’m a firm advocate of low-carb living and regular exercise, not just because they’re backed by solid research (though, as a bit of a science geek, I do love digging into the studies!), but because I’ve experienced the transformational power of this lifestyle firsthand.
Back in 2011, my life took an unexpected turn when I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s, an autoimmune condition that affects the thyroid. It was a challenging time, as I found myself struggling with fatigue and weight management issues, despite my best efforts to lead a healthy lifestyle. Like many others, I was following what I believed to be a healthy diet – low in fats, high in whole grains and vegetables. Yet, I wasn’t seeing the results I hoped for.
That’s when I decided to make a significant change. I cut out sugar, grains, and processed foods from my diet and embraced a whole-foods-based ketogenic approach. The impact was nothing short of remarkable. It was this personal transformation that inspired me to share my journey and knowledge with others.
I then took a leap of faith and created KetoDiet, a comprehensive tracking app loaded with hundreds of delectable low-carb recipes. It quickly gained popularity, becoming a favorite among health-conscious foodies. Following this success, in 2012, I launched the KetoDiet blog, a space dedicated to helping millions navigate the world of low-carb, ketogenic living with ease and excitement.
Since 2016, my adventure into the world of publishing has led me to author ten books on low-carb and keto diets. My aim through these books is to debunk the myth that healthy eating is dull or overly complicated. They are filled with simple, delicious recipes and practical advice, showing that a healthy diet can be accessible, enjoyable, and incredibly rewarding.
